Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Meetvid website and the Meetvid Android application (together, the “Service”), both operated by Meetvid. It explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Meetvid is for adults aged 18 and over and does not require an account.

Information we collect

• Camera & microphone — only while you are in a video chat, to transmit your live audio/video to the person you are matched with. Streams are peer-to-peer and are not recorded or stored by us.
• IP address & approximate location — your IP and a coarse country/region label, used for matchmaking and abuse prevention. We do not use GPS or precise location.
• Device information — device type, operating system, browser or app version.
• Device identifier — a privacy-limited, hashed device fingerprint used solely for safety (ban-evasion and abuse correlation). It is not used for advertising and does not identify you personally.
• Safety & moderation data — reports you submit or that are made about you, low-resolution video frames sampled during chats for automated safety screening, and any evidence image you choose to attach to a report.
• Crash & diagnostic data — if the app crashes or errors, we collect a stack trace, app version, and device model to diagnose and fix the problem. This contains no chat content.
• Cookies — an age-verification cookie and minimal performance/analytics cookies.

We do not collect your name, email, or require any account, and we do not sell your personal data.

App permissions (Android)

• Camera & Microphone — for live video chat. You can deny these and use text-only chat.
• Notifications — to show an ongoing notification while a call is active.
• Foreground service — to keep an active call connected when the app is in the background.

Your video is never recorded

Video and audio connections are peer-to-peer (WebRTC) and temporary. Your stream travels directly between devices and is not stored on our servers. When a chat ends, it is gone.

How we use information

We use the data above to match you with a partner, keep the Service safe (moderation, banning abusers), operate and secure the platform, and fix bugs. We process it on the basis of providing the Service you request and our legitimate interest in keeping it safe.

How information is shared

Your live audio/video is shared only with your current chat partner (peer-to-peer). We share data with service providers that host our infrastructure and store report evidence, strictly to operate the Service. We do not share data with advertisers or data brokers.

Data retention & deletion

Chats are ephemeral and end when the chat ends. Moderation records (reports, bans) are retained only as long as needed for safety and then deleted on a rolling schedule. Uninstalling the app removes data stored on your device. To request deletion of data associated with you, contact support@meetvid.com.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS, and DTLS-SRTP for media). Access to moderation data is restricted to authorized staff.

Children

Meetvid is strictly for users aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
